Egyptian Cotton Bed Sheets – How to Say, “I Love You” for Valentine’s Day

Looking for a Valentine’s Day gift for your special Valentine?  Should you go with one of those witty, yet whimsical Valentine’s Day gifts?  These gifts are typically used once a year and have a useful life of less than the year.  Or are you looking for something you both can enjoy?  Say, something of quality to enjoy for years and additionally, several times throughout the year?

The factors involving feel, such as softness and smoothness are important when selecting a Valentine’s Day present for your special romantic evening.  Is everyone in agreement that a sheet set made of a burlap bag material would be a definite romantic Valentine’s Day turn off?  Yes, the large diameter yarn and the material roughness offer no sensuality when felt against the skin.  So the factors here are thread count and type of material.

It is generally accepted that the higher the thread count of a sheet set, the softer the material will feel against the skin.  This is generally true, but thread count alone is not the whole story.  With regards to bed sheet thread count, and a romantic, sensuous, Valentine’s Day experience, thread counts above 600 definitely give that extra softness against the skin.  A good tradeoff between luxurious softness and price is found for sheet sets around 1000 thread count.

As for type of bed sheet material, cotton is without a doubt very popular.  For a Valentine’s Day evening of romantic bliss, a 100% Egyptian cotton sheet set is the best choice.  Egyptian cotton is the finest in the world, because of its longer cotton staple, which results in a softer and smoother feeling fabric than other cottons.  Face it; an ultra soft and smooth feel against the skin is so much more sensuous.

Not all Egyptian cotton bed sheets are 100% cotton, but have other materials blended with it, such as poly.  For your special Valentine, stick with 100% Egyptian cotton.  It will be softer and more sensuous against the skin than the blended fabrics, and offers better overall comfort.  Cotton has excellent moisture absorbing qualities and breathes more readily than other materials should your romantic evening move into some activities with a slight perspiration.  Yes, 100% cotton bed sheets will wrinkle more easily, but avoid much of the wrinkling by prompt removal of the sheets after the washer and the dryer cycle ends.  With the superior moisture absorption and breathing characteristics of 100% cotton sheets, go for the overall comfort of your special Valentine’s Day romantic evening, and use 100% Egyptian cotton.

For affordability, a quality 100% Egyptian cotton bed sheet set will last for years, so based on a yearly cost is a fantastic value.  True, silk sheets are soft and smooth, but they generally are hand or machined washed on a delicate setting and will not provide the long service.  Besides, silk does not absorb moisture as well as cotton, which is a big comfort factor, not only for your Valentine’s Day relationship, but also during a normal night’s sleep when the body naturally gives off small quantities of perspiration.  Finally, with the price of quality, 100% Egyptian cotton bed sheets being three to five times lower than a silk set, the 100% Egyptian cotton is really quite affordable.

Without a doubt, bright, fire engine red colored items definitely say Valentine’s Day.  However, if your goals are to use the sheet set more than once a year, and to later in the evening drop off into a sound night’s sleep, then another choice of sheet color becomes more practical, while still keeping the sensuous visual nature in your romantic Valentine’s Day evening.

Bright colored bed sheets, such as fire engine red, are not as conducive to relaxing the mind and drifting off into a sound sleep.  Medium to darker colored bed sheets are more soothing, and help promote a restful night’s sleep.  As an added benefit, medium to darker colored bed sheets offer a more sensual background for you, and your special Valentine on your Valentine’s Day evening of romance.

Yes, fire engine red does say Valentine’s Day, but so does another color in the reddish family.  A rich burgundy is a classic color that still provides a sense of passion for Valentine’s Day.  Burgundy, being a medium to darker color is very sensual appearing against the skin, especially when adding some soft candle light on your special evening.  Later in the evening, when you and your special Valentine want to drift off to sleep, the deep rich elegant look of a burgundy colored sheet soothes the mind and helps for a great night’s sleep.
